Since January 2012 Andreas Wallraff is a Full Professor for Solid State Physics in the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich. He joined the department in January 2006 as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in January 2010. Previously, he has obtained degrees in physics from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, U.K., Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen, Germany and did research towards his Masters degree at the Research Center Jülich, Germany. Christopher Eichler is a Senior Scientist in the Department of Physics at ETH. After obtaining Diploma degrees in Physics and Music, he completed a PhD thesis in the Quantum device lab in 2013 for which he was awarded an ETH Medal. In 2014 he moved on to Princeton University where he was a Dicke postdoctoral fellow until rejoining the Quantum device lab in summer 2016.

Previously, during his PhD in Tilmann Esslinger's group at ETH, he worked on quantum transport of ultracold atoms and quantum simulation of devices. Jean-Claude Besse is part of the Superconducting Circuits team of the ETH Zurich - PSI Quantum Computing Hub. He joined our group in February 2016 to conduct a PhD thesis, with a focus on quantum optics interactions in superconducting circuits. After successfully defending his thesis in January 2021, Jean-Claude remained with the Quantum Device Lab as a PostDoc. Previously, Jean-Claude worked on cavity optomechanics in the Painter lab at Caltech and on nanomechanical structures for quantum dots coupling with Imamoglu's group at ETH. Read more
Quentin Ficheux will join the Quantum Device Lab in July 2021 as a Postdoc. His research will focus on the implementation of Quantum circuits for simulation and computation. Quentin obtained his PhD from ENS Paris and Lyon, where he studied the dynamics of a Quantum bit under simultaneous and incompatible measurements. He then joined JQI at the University of Maryland, where he implemented high-fidelity gates on Fluxonium circuits.
